So I went to New York right before Thanksgiving with my sister and her good friend Jamie. This was my sixth time to visit the Big Apple, and it is truly one of my favorite places on the planet. Someone asked me recently if I could live there, and the answer is that I definitely and absolutely could... if it wasn't so dang expensive and preferably if it was located in Tennessee. Some people say it's too busy, too serious, too unfriendly... but I wholeheartedly disagree. There has never been a time when I've visited and needed help that I was turned down or shrugged off. In fact, on many occasions I've been stopped by locals and asked if I need directions. Other than the awesome people, here are a few of my favorite things about New York.
1. The Food
Anytime I travel, what I get to eat is my top priority. New York has so much amazing food to offer that it's hard to choose. This trip we focused on classics and ice cream.. which was just research for our new project, of course. My favorites were Motorino for pizza (brussel sprout pizza!), Shake Shack, Davey's Ice Cream (holy speculoos chocolate chip, Batman!), Big Gay Ice Cream, and Murray's Bagels. So pretty much all the food.
2. The Exercise
I made the mistake of getting up early on my first morning to go for a solitary run. Turns out, I didn't need it. I walked over 32 miles in three and a half days. THIRTY TWO MILES. I was so sore by the end of the second day. I loved it, and it made eating that ice
3. The Hustle
Visiting a city like NYC makes me feel like I can conquer the world. Some people may feel lost and insignificant surrounded by so many people and buildings and noise, and I get that. But I love this city's energy -- it makes me feel strong and powerful. I always come back home inspired and ready to take on new challenges. It didn't hurt that I read #GirlBoss on the plane, which I definitely recommend for all you badass ladies out there.
4. The Views
I mean, enough said amIright? #TopOfTheRock
Have you been to New York? Lived there? Did you love it, hate it, rock it?
