Me!

My name is Claire Crowell. I live just outside of Nashville, Tennessee with my husband Tyler, lively toddler Hattie Jane, and our three dogs Simone, Doc, and Luke. I am the Chief Operating Officer of our growing family business of 7 restaurants -- A. Marshall Family Foods -- which includes Puckett'sPuckett's Boat HouseHomestead Manor, and Scout's Pub. I also co-own Hattie Jane's Creamery, named after my daughter, with my father Andy Marshall. I started this blog as an outlet for myself and to share mom + career + life experiences with those of you out there facing similar challenges and adventures.

DISCLAIMER: My life is not Pinterest perfect. I do not live in a staged home, I live in a home with old carpet and rooms that still need to be painted. We'll get around to it one of these days. Kid toys and laundry frequent my floor, though I do try to keep it relatively tidy and organized, I'm not a slob people! I am not a DIYer, though maybe I will attempt to show off my pathetic skills to you one of these days and we'll all have a good laugh. I love clothes and the way they can empower you but I am not a fashion model, have no idea how to pose for photos, and I do not have have an Instagram Husband. He would hate that. I love to cook meals for my family and will probably share a few, but they are family meals. Meaning they are picky husband and toddler friendly and not particularly pretty. I am going to do my best to share real life with you, which to me means the beautiful stuff and raw, unpolished stuff.

I post lots of pics on Instagram and snapchat @raisedbythefork, so come say hi to me there!

Why Raised by the Fork?

null

#1 - I was raised in the restaurant industry. When I was 12, I would go into work at 5am with my dad to help him prep biscuits for early morning commuters and hunters coming in from long nights on the deer stand. Our store was tiny, so we all did everything. I stocked the drink coolers from the inside {brr!}, patted and flipped burgers, smoked BBQ, scooped smoker ashes, swept parking lots, washed dishes for hours, and on and on. I believe that if a problem can't be fixed with a plate of Southern comfort and a warm smile, then it isn't worth fixing.

#2 -  I was born in Nashville, but we moved out to Leiper's Fork when I was almost a teen. My dad had sold his Piggly Wiggly grocery stores and bought the quaint little market called Puckett's. Back then, I would've called it the middle of freaking nowhere. Nowadays, I am proud to call Leiper's Fork my hometown. I was so lucky to have grown up surrounded by timeless local characters with their infinite wisdom and tall tales.

Three Things Most People Don't Know About Me

  1. I majored in French Language & Literatures
  2. I played soccer for 15 years and was on the first team to win the State Championship for our high school.
  3. I worked at a hookah lounge for two years in college and still know how to say "Thank you" and "I need charcoal" in Arabic.
